## AI visibility & AI SEO for medical practices

Patients ask an assistant before they search. ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews and the rest answer with a few names and a sentence each. We put the facts about your practice where those answers can read them, then check what the assistants actually say — about you, and about the practice down the street.

AI visibility is whether an assistant names your practice when a patient asks it for one, and whether what it says is true. For a private practice it rests on three things: the facts that decide a booking — what you treat, what you charge, where you are, whether you take insurance — stated in plain text on your own site; the same facts on your Google profile and every directory that lists you; and other sites that mention you for real. Fill The Lobby starts by asking the assistants what they say about you today. Week one is an audit, not a pitch.

## What AI visibility actually takes.

### It starts by asking

We take the questions patients in your specialty actually ask, put them to the assistants they use, in your city, and write down who gets named, what gets said and which pages get cited. More than once, because the same question can get a different answer an hour later.

### Facts in text, not in pictures

A fee in a photo of a price list, hours in a PDF, specialties inside a booking widget that loads after the page does: a person can see all of it, and an answer can quote none of it. We move those facts into plain text on the page.

### One story, everywhere

Your site, your Google Business Profile and the directories that list you should agree on your name, your address, what you treat and whether you take insurance. Where they disagree, an answer has to pick one, and it can pick the stale one.

### Pages that answer the question

Each page opens with a direct answer to the question it exists for: what you offer, for whom, where, and at what cost. That is the part that gets lifted into a summary, and it is the same page that serves a patient who clicks.

### Mentioned for real, never planted

Answers lean on what other sites say about you: directories, professional associations, local press. We earn those mentions. We don't plant forum posts or buy places on "best of" lists: that is the kind of inauthentic mention Google's own guidance warns against.

An assistant can only repeat what it can read.

Everything we publish for you is checked for accuracy and against your board's advertising rules before it goes live.

## No special AI files. No magic markup.

[Google's own guidance](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/fundamentals/ai-optimization-guide) says a page needs no special AI files or markup to appear in its AI features, and we would rather tell you that than sell you one. Most of AI visibility is the plain work of being clear, consistent and mentioned, done carefully and then checked every month by the same people who did it — because the outcome is the product, not the tooling underneath it.

## It only works as one system.

Ads without follow-up leak. Follow-up without answered calls leaks. Each of these is here because the one before it stops working without it. This page is about leak 1 of the [seven leaks](https://fillthelobby.com/patient-acquisition-agency#leaks): not being found.

### What we check, every month

A fixed set of questions — the ones patients in your specialty and your city actually type — asked of ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot. For each one we record whether you were named, what was said, which pages were cited, and whether any of it was wrong. You see the same record for two or three practices near you, so the picture is relative rather than flattering.

Google's Search Console and Bing's Webmaster Tools have both started reporting when their AI answers show your pages, and we read those too. None of it is a booked appointment, which is still the number we report on. So we add "an AI assistant" wherever you ask new patients how they found you, and count it.

### When the answer is wrong about you

Assistants repeat stale facts with total confidence: an address you left, an insurance panel you dropped, a clinician who moved on two years ago. There is no form that edits the answer. What works is finding where the fact came from — usually an old directory listing, or a page nobody took down — and correcting it there, then asking again until the answer catches up.

How fast that happens is not up to us or you. An assistant that searches the web while it answers can reflect a correction once the page is crawled again. One answering from what it learned in training waits for its next update, on a timetable nobody outside those companies controls.

### Who we run this for

The questions differ by specialty, so the question set does too. In [ketamine and Spravato marketing](https://fillthelobby.com/ketamine-spravato-marketing), people ask an assistant about the treatment long before they ask who offers it, so a plain, accurate explanation on your own site comes first. In [functional medicine marketing](https://fillthelobby.com/functional-medicine-marketing) the research runs for weeks and the assistant is part of it, which makes a stated price and program length worth more than another article. In [therapy practice marketing](https://fillthelobby.com/therapy-practice-marketing) the question is usually local and specific — a therapist near me, for this, who takes private pay — and the answer is built from your profiles as much as from your site.

## AI visibility for medical practices: what owners ask.

**Q: What is AI visibility for a medical practice?**

Whether an AI assistant names your practice when someone asks it for one, and whether what it says about you is right. It covers ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot. The work underneath is the same for all of them: facts they can read, and sources that agree with each other.

**Q: Can you guarantee ChatGPT will recommend my practice?**

No, and be wary of anyone who does. Answers change with who is asking, from where, and how the question is worded, and none of the assistants publish how they choose. What we can do is remove the reasons you are being left out or described wrongly, and show you every month what they actually say.

**Q: Is AI visibility different from SEO?**

They overlap more than they differ. Search ranks pages and a patient picks one; an assistant writes the answer and names a few sources. The groundwork is shared — a maintained Google profile, clear pages, consistent details — which is why this sits beside our SEO work rather than replacing it. Where they part is measurement: there is no position one in an answer, so we track whether you are named and what is said.

**Q: How do you measure AI visibility?**

Three ways, in order of how much they matter. Booked appointments first: we add an AI assistant as an answer wherever you ask new patients how they found you. Then the reports Google and Bing now publish on when their AI answers show your pages. Then our own monthly record of a fixed set of questions: who gets named, and what gets said.

**Q: How long before assistants start mentioning us?**

There is no honest date. An assistant that searches the web while it answers can reflect a fix once the page is crawled again; one answering from its training waits for its next update, on a schedule nobody outside those companies sets. Anyone quoting you a number of weeks is guessing.

**Q: Does any of this involve patient information?**

No. The work is on the public facts about your practice: your site, your profiles and your listings. We never put patient details into an assistant, and the questions we ask are ones any member of the public could type.
